TexaScapes to Care for Austin’s Mighty Oak
- The Caldwell Treaty Oak Park and Surrounding Grounds to be Maintained by TexaScapes –

AUSTIN, TEXAS, April 21, 2009 – TexaScapes, an Austin-based commercial landscape maintenance and landscape design / build firm known for personalized customer service, high professional standards, and a green approach to grounds maintenance; is pleased to announce that it will be providing year-round Greener Grounds Maintenance Services to the historic Caldwell Treaty Oaks Park.

TexaScapes will be providing their “Greener Grounds Maintenance” service to the turfgrass and landscape improvement areas surrounding the Treaty Oak. This service includes elimination of traditional chemicals, utilization of native and adapted plant materials, incorporation of organic compost, releasing of ladybugs each April for aphid control, and to maintain a constant healthy, neat and litter free landscape appearance.

“The staff at TexaScapes is excited about being selected by Austin Parks and Recreation Department to provide our ‘Greener Grounds Maintenance Program’ for Treaty Oak Park,” states TexaScapes President & Founder Richard Fadal. “We hope to set a positive example that will encourage everyone to be as ‘green as reasonably possible’.”

The Treaty Oak, which has been called the “most perfect specimen of a tree in North America,” is thought to be over 500 years old. It received its name as it was the location where Stephen F. Austin is said to have signed the first boundary line agreement with the Native Indians in the Austin area. The Treaty Oak, once the center tree in the “Council Oaks,” has been the location of pact signings, battle planning meetings, and many feasts and religious ceremonies.
