As a veteran of the collision between traditional media and the online revolution, John Parker is an ardent advocate of leveraging newsworthy content and proven PR approaches with powerful social media/online opportunities.
He has served as managing editor of two newspapers and an assistant city editor for Oklahoma’s largest newspaper. In his reporting career, John garnered more than 25 writing awards including state and national awards for his coverage of the Oklahoma City bombing, investigative projects and governmental reporting. He earned separate storytelling awards as a staff member of an alternative weekly, an online business publication and a group of upscale lifestyle magazines.
A sense of adventure led John and his wife, Kevan Goff-Parker, to the West Indies in 2001 to run the weekly St. Kitts-Nevis Observer. While covering one of the world’s smallest nations, they found time to pluck bird-of-paradise flowers on rainforest hikes and watch vervet monkeys snatch treats from beach tourists.
