Michael has an extensive background in the vacation rental and travel industries. As one of the first employees at HomeAway, Inc, Michael gained experience in an acquisition and start-up environment. HomeAway Inc, the largest online marketplace for vacation rentals in the world has risen over $400 million in venture capital making it the largest capital raising effort in Austin’s history and the largest in the world in 2006.
Prior to his current position, Michael was manager of TripHomes.com, an online marketplace. Michael’s responsibilities included business development, inventory expansion by geography, and revenue generation through leads and Internet traffic. This online marketplace was specific to property managers located in both beach and ski markets across the US, Mexico, Caribbean and Europe.
Before HomeAway, Michael was at Rent101.com, the leading online portal for professionally managed vacation rentals and one of the founding sites of HomeAway.com. Michael’s responsibilities at Rent101.com were focused towards new business development, strategy, B2B sales and customer relations.
Michael brings large corporation and small privately owned employment experiences to all situations. He has worked as Regional Manager at Verizon Communication, and Professional Channel Manager at The Thompson Corporation, both publicly traded companies. His hobbies are photography, tennis, mountain biking and reading.
